Meet Esther Laing!

I'm Esther Lang and I'm 15 years old. I have 8 siblings: I'm the middle child with 6 brothers and two older sisters. I go to Bear River High School for half of the day and then work on the rest of my self-customized curriculum. I am an artist and love anything history, and I love certain animated shows such as Gravity Falls and Avatar: The Last Airbender.

I have always had a love for music. When I was little, I would put on concerts for my sisters — which consisted of mashing together songs I knew, and playing my sister's violin as a guitar!

I took Musikgarten classes when I was little, and PPC as well as private lessons at Harmony. When I was in 4th grade, my sister started to teach me the violin.

The summer after 6th grade, I decided to take the Fast Track program and learn cello. There were days when it was really hard, and I didn't have a private teacher, so my sisters and my mom helped me along. Whenever I passed off one of the songs in my book, my sister would draw a unique emoji that would make me laugh. And that always helps me to remember that practicing an instrument can be fun!

In 9th grade I decided I wanted to try learning piano again, but in my own way. I wanted to learn Moonlight Sonata and Clair de Lune because I have such deep respect for those songs. So I took a PPC class from Harmony Arts and Music Academy and was able to progress far enough to learn Moonlight Sonata fully, and I am now actively learning Clair de Lune.

Last year I played cello in the Messiah sing-along. This year, I am playing in the high school orchestra, and I have started to learn a little ukulele on my own. I started working for Harmony Arts and Music Academy as a PPC teacher and an office worker, and I help with some Keyboard classes.

I love working here at Harmony Arts and Music Academy! It is such a wonderful place to learn and teach, and I'm super excited to work with all of the students who come!
