Sweetpea Swing Band
The Sweetpea Swing Band has been performing their own unique brand of
traditional jazz in and around Vancouver for over three years. The band
repertoire contains a lively collage of hot jazz music dating back as far as
1916. Although the bands music is firmly rooted in trad jazz, The Sweetpea Swing
Band presents their music in a hip, modern style that continues to incite
audiences into a dancing frenzy.
The Sweetpea Swing Band presents music by the likes of; Duke
Ellington, Count Basie, Joe Oliver, Joe Primrose, Jimmie Noone, Fats Waller,
Hoagy Carmichael, and Jelly Roll Morton. |
 |
The music presented by The Sweetpea
Swing Band is arranged by band members Tim Sars, Alison Gorman, Andrew Smith,
and Sam Scott as well as Vancouver's own Alan Matheson, Craig Scott, and Lloyd
Arntzen.

| Sempre String Orchestra - The core quartet; Karina Slupski (first violin),
Larisa Lebeda (second violin), Jacek Dziobek (viola) and Aleksandra Dziobek
(cello) have performed at thousands of concerts and events during their music
careers. |
| Formed in 1999, the ensemble is comprised of four passionate Russian
and Polish classically trained string players who now make Vancouver their home.
This afternoon, they will be joined by four additional renowned string players,
to form the Sempre String Orchestra; DeAnne Eisch (violin), Ruth Huang (violin),
Beth Nickel (viola) & Ben Goheen (cello). What better way to spend the
holiday Monday afternoon than enjoying light classics by the sea. |

Dal Richards’ Orchestra
In Western Canada the great sound of the big
band era is synonymous with one man, musician and bandleader Dal Richards. For
over sixty years Dal Richards and his Orchestra have delighted Canadians with
memorable dance music. |
Dal has been featured in two television documentaries and
several music specials and has received many honours and accolades from the
charities that he is been involved with over the years. His friends and fans
affectionately call him “Dr. Swing”!
Dal Richards has drawn record numbers to
the festival for the past several years, so we are excited to have him back at this
year's festival.
